As a parish community, we worship together and celebrate together, sharing special times and the day to day activities of life. Social groups offer us the opportunity to reach out and care for one another, to offer support and encouragement, to share joys and sorrows.
Stewardship is one of the most prominent themes in Scripture. It is not a slogan or a program. Rather, stewardship is a way of life and faith - the disciple's fruitful response to God. The Christian who lives as a steward recognises that all is gifted from God. The Parish Council works hard to be good stewards of the gifts we have entrusted to them. Through faith, hard work, community and commitment Lourdes is a vibrant parish.
Please tick your areas of expertise and interest on the “flick and tick” form when you receive it. More information and the name and phone number of the contact person for each group is available from the Parish Office.
The Catering Committee is a small group of dedicated parishioners who assist on the day with the events in the Parish such as morning teas, sausage sizzles etc. This is a great opportunity to meet Parishioners you may not know.
The aim of Lourdes Community Building Group is to get to know other members of the Parish and foster community spirit. We do this by organising various functions throughout the year. These activities are advertised in the Parish Bulletin. Sharing about day to day life and our faith happens when people come together, love one another and understand one another.
The Craft & Friendship Group meet every Thursday morning after 10.00am Mass in the Quiet Room. We celebrate birthdays and occasionally go out for lunch. The Hospice is our main fundraiser. We donate to St Vincent de Paul, Retired Priests, Caritas, Qld Cancer, Careflight and Eva’s Place. We make cuddle rugs and beanies for Eva’s Place and premmie babies, bibs and stoles for Baptism, scarves & beanies for the homeless. We share patterns, wool and recipes and a lot of friendship and laughter. For anyone wanting to learn there is always someone to help. You don’t need to be doing craft. Just come along for the friendship, a cuppa and a biscuit.
The Parents with Young Children Morning Tea Group meet Friday mornings from 9.00 – 11.00am in the school hall (except School Holidays). The group aims to provide parents with the opportunity to share experiences and ideas over a relaxing cuppa and for children to participate in various activities including craft, play dough, music and storytelling. The group provides an excellent opportunity for children of a young age to develop social skills while interacting with other children and adults in a relaxed, friendly environment.
This team identifies and organises maintenance and repairs in the Parish. They co-ordinate working bees when necessary and liaise with external trades people to undertake bigger projects.
